I did it!

I love how she puts her hands behind her back towards the end like she's strutting.

Happy 13 Months!

It's just too hard to take those monthly pictures now. Especially since Eggy is walking. And she's EVERYWHERE. If I turn around for two seconds, she's already in the other room. Kinda scary. It wasn't that long ago that she was walking around with her arms in the air for balance. She looked like a chimpanzee, haha. Sometimes, she'll walk with her hands behind her back and she looks like an old lady. So funny.

Eggy can also pull herself up to standing now so she hardly crawls anymore.

She must have really strong thighs.

She was like this for a long time so I went over to the other side and...

Also, when she farts, she'll pat her tummy. I like to think she's either saying, "Ah, that felt good." or "I farted!" Either way, she looks pretty proud of herself.

She can kind of feed herself.

Eggy knows how to do the "Head, Shoulders, Knees, & Toes" dance. Well, kinda. She can only do head and toes. We're still working on the shoulders and knees part. Other body parts that she knows: nose, ear, mouth, elbow, and belly button. But usually she points those out on other people instead of herself. Sometimes, she'll lift up my shirt to look for my belly button. Then, she'll grab my belly fat instead. Jerk.

She knows how to roll/throw a ball.

And she knows who she is.

Eggy can give massages. And she'll even throw in a hug.

In addition to monkey, alligator, and cat, Eggy can also imitate a dog and an elephant.

Okay, so maybe all her animal noises sound the same but I can tell the difference!

She loves to copy us.

Eggy's changed so much this month! I feel like she's doing something funny and new every day. Can't wait to see what next month brings.

Finally!

It took a while but Eggy is finally walking on her own. She's still a little unsteady but she's doing it!

She can walk AND hold on to a bar of soap at the same time! Is my little weirdo gifted or what?

A typical day

One time (at band camp), my friend Jamo asked me what I do when I'm home with Eggy all day.  I don't really know.  

Some of the things Eggy likes to do (some of these are old pictures/videos):

• Practice walking

• Torment Play with Toby

Yes, those are socks. Toby's weird and only likes to play with socks when he's not too busy sleeping.

• Dance

• Hang out with the homies

• Watch TV

• Read books

Sometimes, she'll "read" her own book while I'm reading mine. Or she'll want me to read a book and then she'll go off and do something else, not even paying attention. If I stop reading, she comes back and tells me to keep reading. So bossy! I am not your bitch.  If I keep reading, it's because I feel like it and I want to find out if the hippopotamus joins the animal pack so there!

• Go outside for walks

• Admire herself

•  And generally, just make trouble

I know.  My life is so exciting.  

Happy 12 Months!

Yeah yeah, we get it; you're one.  And no, I'm not a fob; I know the "s" is missing.  Eggy ripped it off and I couldn't find it.

Eggy's still not totally walking on her own yet. She still reaches for our hands when we try to make her walk. But she's getting there....

I don't know if it's because she's scared or what. I would say she's pretty cautious but sometimes, she can be a little daredevil. She likes it when I throw her in the air. And she loved the swing at the park the other day.

Maybe she's just lazy.

Since we had a big party, we kept it pretty low key for her actual birthday. Actually, we were going to have family pictures taken but it got postponed. It was supposed to rain yesterday and today so we cancelled the shoot. Wouldn't you know? It was nice and sunny the whole day. Stupid weather. I really wanted to do it on her real birthday too. Boo.

Instead, we went over to Grandma's (Eggy Appah's mom) house for dinner.  And of course, cake!

See, I told you Eggy can be cautious.  I think most babies would grab that cake with both hands and shove it in their mouth, right?  Not Eggy, she'd only poke at it.  

Maybe I might have put a little frosting on her nose to help her get started

which she didn't really like.

But once she tasted that frosting, she pretty much forgot about it.

Happy 11 Months!

Just one more month until Eggy is 1 year old!

It's taken almost a year but Eggy is sleeping soo well now. She sleeps a good solid 11-12 hours at night. Sometimes, I even have to go in and wake her up so she doesn't oversleep. And I can actually get things done during her naps now too. I love it!! Thank you, Dr. Ferber!

Eggy is thisclose to walking. I am not too excited about this because that just means more opportunities for her to get in trouble. And I don't want to always be running after her. We really should baby proof the house. We should have done it once she started crawling but we're bad and lazy parents.

And being bad parents, we also let Eggy watch TV. Usually, Nick Jr. I don't know why but she really likes Moose and Zee.

Eggy is a big time pointer. So rude. It's point point point and "eh eh eh" followed by a sign for "more" and I don't even know what she wants. It's getting frustrating.

Eggy can point out your nose, ears, and belly button. She'll lift up your shirt to point out your belly button so watch out if you happen to be lying down near her. It's funny because my sister has a belly button ring and it used to scare Eggy. She'd point at it and whine/cry.

It's crazy how fast babies learn and pick up new things. Sometimes, we only show Eggy something a couple times and she does it. She can blow kisses, kinda. She knows how to do "please." One time, my mom was rubbing her nose and Eggy did the same. It's so funny when she copies us because it's so unexpected. I guess we're going to have to watch what we do in front of her now.

Eggy's birthday party is at the end of the month so I am officially in party planning mode. I have my slave sister helping me so hopefully, I'll get everything done in time. I'm excited!
