Bacon is 10 Months!

Height: 28 inches
Weight: 18lbs., 5oz.
Head Circumference: 18.5 inches
Bacon hasn't grown very much.  He dropped down to like 5-10th percentile for weight.  I was really surprised.  He feels heavy to me.  He eats so much!  Maybe because he's always on the move?  Or maybe he just poops it all out?  Boy used to poop 4 times a day sometimes!  Maybe I should start feeding him McDonald's instead.
Speaking of food, it seems like Bacon is getting pickier.  He's still a pretty good eater but he wants to eat what we're eating now too.  Today, my mom was feeding him some pureed rice and vegetables but he kept pushing it away and looking at Eggy's plate instead.  Never mind that his food and her food were basically the same; just that his was pureed.  So my mom gave him a little piece of bok choy which he gobbled up.  So she fed him his puree, pretending that she got it from the plate of vegetables.  Then, he would eat it.  But the fatty really loves food.

No new teeth but I think he's teething again.

I just started a new job so things have been really hectic.  And I was doing fill in work last week too so I didn't get home most nights until after 7pm so I feel like I hardly got to see my little pork chop.  It wasn't until the day after that I realized it was Bacon's monthday.  Excuses, excuses....

Poor Bacon had yet another cold but this time, he was coughing too.  It's so sad to hear your little one coughing during the night and not be able to do anything.  He's doing better now thankfully.

Bacon is finally understanding us!  We have communication!  He definitely understands "no" because when he reaches for something he shouldn't, he whine-cries when we say, "no!"  And when I say something in a stern voice, he'll cry then too.
But his favorite word is mamma which means food in Korean.  Sometimes he says it but I don't think he's really using the word.
He can do mahn-sae.
And dori dori.
 He can clap.

He likes to copy us, especially Eggy.  He'll blow raspberries.  He makes kissing noises when you say ppo ppo.  He gives "hugs" by laying his head down.  He bows when we say thank you.  He makes a funny face when we say silly face.  Sometimes, during dinner, he'll try to do everything at once.

I love watching Eggy and Bacon interact.  My heart just melts and it makes me sooo happy that we had two kids.
But of course, they're also "fighting" too.  Already.  Sigh.
In this video, Eggy was having a tea party and I suggested that she share with her brother and give him a cup which she grudgingly did.  But he'd say, "mamamamama" and put the cup in his mouth and she'd yell at him, "NO MAMAMAMA!"  I think Bacon thought it was a game.
But don't worry.  Bacon doesn't really let himself be bullied.  When he was younger and Eggy would take away his toy, he'd just kind of go do something else.  But now?  He'll yell back at her and chase after her.   It's kind of funny.
And Eggy appah is convinced that Bacon is going to grow up to be a mean bully.
He's a fast crawler and really good at pulling himself up to standing.  And he's starting to cruise around while holding onto the couch.  There were a couple times that we thought he was going to try to stand on his own.
But when we'd try to get him to stand or walk while holding out hands, he'll just drop down to crawl instead.  Fine by me.  I remember always having to walk hunched over while holding on to Eggy's hands when she was learning to walk.

I've started planning for Bacon's dohl.  It's less than two months away.  And I'm dreading planning it.  I just feel like I don't have the energy.  I know he won't care about his birthday but I would still feel guilty if I didn't make it a little bit of a big deal, especially since Eggy had a big party.  I wish I could just hire someone to do all the work for me.  Any volunteers?

Bacon is 9 Months!

This month's theme would have to be Mama's Boy.  We are in the full on separation anxiety/stranger danger stage.  Even if I'm sitting rightnexttohim, he will crawl into my lap and whine until I hold him.  Then, he'll whine some more until I stand up and carry His Majesty around.  Ugh, it is so annoying.   When he was younger, he used to smile at everybody.  But now he just kind of looks at them all serious.  On Christmas, we went to my in-laws and there were a lot of people there and it was loud and Bacon freaked out.  He'd cry every time someone would try to hold him.  Once, he didn't even see that his SokSok was behind him (instead of his daddy) but somehow he knew that there was a "stranger" there and he started to cry.
Not a Santa fan
I'm totally that mean mom that takes pictures of their kids crying and finds it funny or cute.  Of course, not when they're genuinely hurt or upset; I'm not that mean.  Not when it comes to my kids anyway.
Trying to climb up my leg
But sometimes, I love it.  When someone else reaches out to take him from me, he'll turn away from them and put his head on my shoulder.  Even his own father.

He's got two more new teeth at the top so he's got a total of six teeth now.
We stopped giving him his medicine for his reflux a few weeks ago and he's doing pretty well.  He only spit up a couple times but I think that was because he overate.

He can pull himself to his feet while holding on to the couch although he's still wobbly.  I used to put a sofa cushion on the floor as a barricade but now he can climb over it.

He's been a lot more vocal lately.  And really loud.  I've been trying to teach him how to sign for "more" but I'm not sure if he gets it.  I'm usually trying to get him to do it when I'm feeding him but I think he gets too impatient and just yells at me to hurry up and feed him.  Sometimes, I think he even gets mad at Eggy.  Like if she takes something away from him, he yells.  Hahaha

I feel like he's a little bit faster in his physical milestones but I think Eggy was way ahead mentally.  Like I feel like Eggy understood us and would "perform" on command, like doing jamjam.  But Bacon just looks at us like he doesn't get it.  Or maybe he just doesn't care and does whatever he wants when he wants.  That should be fun as he gets older.  Sigh.

Bacon is 8 Months! (and 2 weeks!)

I know, I know.  I'm so behind.  Sorry, Bacon.  I still love you!  It's just been busy.  The holidays are here.  There's some work stuff.  Anyway, let's just get to it.

Bacon is officially crawling.  And the boy is fast.  When he sees something he wants, he puts it in turbo.  I swear he's even tried to run away from me a couple times.

His two top teeth came in.  They look so big compared to his bottom teeth.  And I thought I saw another tooth (bottom left) cutting through but it disappeared.

He's eating three meals a day now.  And just like his sister, he is a PIG, a bottomless pit.  He just keeps opening his mouth whenever I hold up the spoon.  I think I might be overfeeding him.  Also, he might be allergic to dairy.  His eczema seems to get worse when he eats yogurt.  But everything else has been good.  So far, he's had apple, avocado, pear, banana, green beans, squash, sweet potato, chicken, tofu, carrots, prunes, blueberries, and egg yolk (today!).

Poor Bacon has been sick most of the month.  Since starting school, Eggy's been bringing home all kinds of goodies and you know, sharing is caring.  So just as they start getting over one cold, they get another.  I think the kids at school just keep passing it back and forth between each other.

Despite all the illnesses, this has been my favorite month with Bacon so far.  We're finally settling into a schedule now where I kind of know what to expect.  He takes two naps a day.  The first one is between 9:30-10am which lasts for about 1-2 hours.  His second nap is usually between 2-3pm, depending on when he woke up from his first nap.  If he only napped an hour in the morning, he'll usually nap about two hours in the afternoon.  Either way, it works out to about 3 hours of naptime.  We usually put him to bed around 7pm.  Lately, he's been waking up around 6 or 6:30am.  Of course, I'd much prefer it if he woke up around 7 but I can't complain too much.  Once in awhile, he still wakes up during the night for a feeding but usually just once.
I also love how he excited he gets when I come home from work and crawls over to me.  But then he'll also get upset if I have to put him down to do something.  He'll crawl after me, whining and crying.  Dude, I'm just in the kitchen!

The best part is seeing Bacon and Eggy interacting with each other.  Eggy's always been Bacon's favorite.  She can make him laugh every time.  If he starts fussing while we're changing his diaper, she can usually get him to stay calm by singing him a song.  And when I put him in his car seat, he always looks over at Eggy in her seat, even if she's not there.  He really loves her so much.
And usually Eggy is very sweet with her brother too.  One time, we were driving when it was dark and Bacon started fussing.  Even though she was busy watching the iPad, Eggy told me to turn on the light for him.  When I turned on the overhead light, Eggy said to Bacon, "There, it's okay, Bacon" in this soothing voice.
Of course, she has her moments where she's not always feeling so nurturing.  Mostly because she doesn't want to share.  But she's only 3 so she's learning.  Once they're both older, they'll probably be fighting a lot more.  I wonder if they'll fight more over food or toys.

Umm, you want what?

Eggy appah usually exposes Eggy to more eclectic music than I do.  Even older songs, like Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" Eggy knows how to sing.  When she's with me, she gets mostly pop.
So tonight in the car, she asked to listen to... One Erection.

Bacon is 7 Months!

Height: 26 3/4"
Weight: 16 pounds, 11.2 ounces
Head Circumference: 18"
Haha, so I guess he hasn't gained much weight this last month.  I think he was like 30-something percentile for height, 20-something percentile for weight, and 90% for head circumference!  The only thing growing is his head!  I even had to exchange a hat for one in size 18-24 months.
He's still in size 3 diapers.
Developmentally, this has been a huge month for Bacon.  He's like a totally different baby.  And it all seemed to happen at once.  You'd think with all the craziness from Korea and all, he'd take it easy but not this kid.  He's been busy.
His two bottom teeth finally cut through.
When we were in Korea, he kept biting me while nursing which hurt like a bitch.  I'd take him off and tell him no in what I thought was a stern voice and the booger would just smile at me.  Thankfully, he's stopped biting.  Hopefully, he won't do it again when his other teeth come in.
He can sit independently.  He'll still fall over once in awhile but he sits pretty well for the most part.  I even put him in the shopping cart and he seemed to enjoy it but he kept leaning over.

Even though he JUST learned to sit, Bacon is also getting ready to crawl.  At first, he would just pivot around on his stomach like a helicopter but now he gets up on his hands and knees.  He usually ends up sliding backwards which frustrates him.  Sometimes he'll get on his hands and knees, lunge forward, and repeat.  So he's getting there.  He just hasn't figured out how to actually move his arms and/or legs.
Eggy didn't start crawling until she was 8 months so I'm surprised that Bacon is already trying because he's been behind Eggy in everything else.  We better get to babyproofing the house.

I took him to his pediatrician on Monday for his 6 month well baby visit (a month late because we had to reschedule twice).  He got 3 shots and he did sooo well.  He cried a little bit but it was more like a crying out and no tears!
He is such a good baby.  Usually, haha.  Lately, he's been a little more fussier, always wanting to be held.  I'm guessing he's going through some separation anxiety.  On top of that, I think he's also got a little bit of stranger anxiety.  When we were at the doctor's office, he kept looking at the doctor and nurse.  He didn't cry but I could tell he was unsure of them.  Before he used to smile at everyone, but now he just stares.

We've been back from Korea for two weeks now and I think we're finally getting back to normal.  It's been the hardest on the kids.  Eggy's been having a little bit of a rough week at school.  She's been saying she doesn't want to go and cries on and off during the day.  She says it's because she misses us.  I guess she was just used to spending so much time with us when we were in Korea.  She was doing really well before we left so I'm hoping she'll adjust soon.  As for Bacon, he did really well with all the traveling considering but he was all mixed up when we got back home.  He was still on Korea time so he'd wake up a few times during the night wanting to play.  So not fun.  He also had an ear infection.  It sucks because I also got sick and the lack of sleep was not helping me get better faster.  I was exhausted.  But on Monday, we started re-sleep training him and he's starting to sleep normal again.  It's still a work in progress but he's doing well.  Actually, really well because he hasn't been waking up for any night feedings like he did before we left for Korea (I'm guessing the solids help).  Keeping my fingers crossed.
