Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

Happy Chuseok!

In honor of it being Chuseok today, I decided to get out Eggy's hanbok and have a little fun.
When Eggy wore her hanbok on her birthday, it was still really big.  I even had to tuck the sleeves under so it wouldn't be so long.  Now, it fits perfectly.  After all, it has been almost six months.

I just like these next pictures so much.  They make me laugh.

And since it's the Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival in China and we don't want to neglect her Chinese half....

Books, Bellies, and Discipline

Yesterday, Eggy got in big time trouble.  Eggy told her halmeh to sing a song (for the eleven-teenth time) and when my mom said no, Eggy hit her!  Or maybe she pushed her.  Either way, it was not nice.  And Eggy knew right away that she did the wrong thing.  A lot of times, when Eggy knows she's in trouble, she'll apologize right away; I don't even get a chance to yell at her or discipline her before she gives me a kiss.  Such a manipulator.  Anyway, this time was different.  I had to grab her and make her look at me.  She kept looking away and calling for her dad.  She already knows he's the big softie strong manly man who will protect her.  (Ahem, someone had an objection to being called a big sissy marshmallow so I had to edit.  rolling eyes)  I told her to apologize to her halmeh and give us all a kiss.  I was trying not to laugh the whole time, especially when she was calling for her dad.  I even had to turn my face away a few times so she wouldn't see me smiling.  I definitely don't want Eggy to think that she can get away with hitting people but I found the whole thing to be very funny.  I'm sure once she throws her first real tantrum, I won't think it's so cute anymore.

Today, I took Eggy to the library for the first time.  It's not the greatest library for kids but I thought it'd be a fun new experience for her.  Yesterday, she got into the bookcase at home and pulled out a bunch of books.
Studying hard
So what did she do at the library?
Pretty much the same thing she does at home.

We didn't stay very long.  I guess Eggy didn't find the library to be too exciting.  But I think she had fun, just getting out of the house.  She said bye-bye to everyone.  (She still won't really say hi to people, just bye.  But now, she'll also tell them she loves them by putting her hands on her head.  It's supposed to be a heart sign over the head but her arms are too short, obvs.)

Something new I taught Eggy
I know ya'll can't wait to belly cheers with Eggy the next time you see her!

LA County Fair 2010

Yesterday, we went to the LA county fair.  I look forward to it every year; it's our tradition.  We got engaged at the fair.  We even took our engagement pictures there.
We usually go during the week later in the month so it's not as crowded.  For whatever crazy reason, we decided to go during the opening weekend.  On a holiday.  Ugh, it was hot and so crowded.  And it didn't help that Eggy was pretty cranky too.
She cried because she didn't want to go in the carrier or the stroller but we didn't want her running into people.
Seeing the farm animals cheered her up a little bit.

The part that I was most excited about?  Eggy fell asleep in her stroller!!!  She hasn't done that since she was a newborn.  (I've always been jealous of those parents with kids who seem to fall asleep anywhere: the stroller, the shopping cart, the high chair.  I want to ask them, "How do you get your kid to sleep like that?!")  Her "nap" was only for like 30 minutes but still, I was pretty excited.

Anyway, it was definitely more fun this year than last year because Eggy could participate more but it was also kind of stressful.  I didn't even get to eat as much junk as I would have liked and that's the best part of going to the fair: the food!  I think it'll be a little while before we take her to places like Disneyland.  I'm still recovering from yesterday.

Eggy will never need any collagen injections.

Happy 17 Months!

A few days late but better late than never, right?

Eggy has turned into such a copycat.  She's always trying to do whatever we're doing.  We're really going to have to start watching what we do and say around her.
For example, if I'm talking on the phone, Eggy also has something she MUST discuss with whoever is on the line.  Again, she's probably telling them all kinds of crap about me.  So if we are suddenly interrupted by a little voice jabbering away while I am talking to you on the phone, I apologize in advance.

In addition to her yoga, Eggy's also added sit-ups and jumping to her exercise regimen.
Uh, she's got to work a little more on her vertical though, like actually getting off the ground.  That gravity is a tricky bitch.
She can also stand on one foot.  Kinda.

Word of the Week: gaga
Eggy is always asking her eemoh to play her songs from her iPod by saying, "gaga."  Her favorites are still Beyonce's Single Ladies and Lady Gaga's Poker Face.  So when Eggy says, "gaga" she really means one of those two songs.  I guess Beyonce is too hard to say for a toddler.

It amazes me how much she learns and changes every day.  Even the things she remembers.  It's crazy.  But that's what makes her so fun.

The Big News

Sometime in March 2011 (hopefully), the Eggy family will be moving!  We bought a house!  (Technically, it's a condo.)
We're super excited.  It's a brand new house that's still being built which is why we can't move in until March.  We're going to be a bit further away from our families but it's in a community we really like.
We've been looking to buy a house on and off for the past two years.  We started looking again this summer and came across these new homes.  Eggy appah and I got pre-approved and played the waiting game.  Over a month later, we got a home!
Although Eggy doesn't understand the whole idea of moving, I think she really likes the house too.  When we toured the model homes, she got comfortable right away.

It's been two years since we moved in with my parents.  We hadn't planned on staying this long but it's been really really nice having the extra help with Eggy.  We've definitely gotten spoiled.  It's going to be so much harder when we move.  Plus, I hate packing.  But, I think it's time.
