So... can you tell what Eggy's been digging these days?
My sister got her the rolling suitcase and the outfit from head to toe is from her GooGoo.  She loves it so much that she didn't even want to take it off for her nap.  I think she looks so cute.  But the pink glitter from the dress that she leaves all over the house?  Not so cute.
So yeah, her favorite show right now is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney Junior.  She makes us reenact scenes all the time with her.  And she's always singing random songs from the show.
What the real song is supposed to be but I just don't have the heart to correct her.  Or tell her that it's Daisy, not Minnie, who's singing the the song.

THREE!!!

It's been a long long day.  Actually, I think we celebrated Eggy's birthday the whole weekend.  So spoiled.  But I wanted to make sure she had a nice birthday since it'll be her last one as an only child.  Starting next year, she's pretty much going to have to share her birthdays with Bacon since they'll only be a week apart.

Anyway, Eggy woke up this morning to a little surprise from umma and appah.  The girl loves her some balloons.
A breakfast of cinnamon rolls

Spent the morning at the Aquarium of the Pacific (where she had her first birthday!) with a few of her buddies
After the aquarium and lunch, the hubs and I were exhausted.  And since Eggy didn't fall asleep in the car, I made us all take a nap together even though it was already past 3:30.  I don't think Eggy fell asleep until after 4:30 though because she kept wanting to play with the balloons.  After her nap, Eggy appah wanted to do a little photoshoot with all the balloons.
And because I am lazy and it was getting late, we went to Wood Ranch BBQ for dinner where Eggy got yet another birthday dessert.

I am in disbelief that my baby is three years old.  How is this possible?  But at the same time, there have been moments over the past few months where I've noticed how much Eggy is NOT a baby.  Not just because she tells us all the time: "I'm not a baby.  I'm a big girl."  Sigh.  And this fall, she's going to be starting preschool.  Preschool, people!!  If I didn't already have a second baby on the way, I'd totally have baby fever right now.

Thank you Eggy for being the little amazing person that you are.  How we got so lucky I'll never know.  And even when you're being all dramatic and having diva attitude (you're three, not thirteen!), I still think you're pretty awesome.  I could not have asked for a better baby kid.  Just don't grow up too fast, okay?  I don't think your dad will be able to handle it.  We love you muchos!

Happy Birthday, Glamazon!

A little early, I know but I wanted to make sure Eggy's biggest littlest fan got to see it in time for her birthday tomorrow.  Make sure you eat a big slice of cake for me and Eggy!

We practiced like three times before I recorded it.  haha

Happy Time

Since my last post was kind of a downer, here's some pics of a happier Eggy.
Tuesday was Eggy appah's birthday and no birthday is complete unless you have cake of course.
I'm so glad that Eggy shares my appreciation for cake.

For Hani

It's Hani's hwan-gab.  We're taking her out to dinner next week but no big party or anything.  I am a bad daughter.  =(
Geez, Eggy looks like a mess.  Now, I'm a bad mother too.  Double =(

Happy birthday Haji!

Yesterday was my dad's birthday.  On Sunday, we went out for chinese food and had cake at home.  I'm not sure which she liked better:  singing happy birthday and blowing out the candles or eating the cake.
She actually managed to blow out one candle
We had to sing twice because Her Highness wanted to do it again
This is what we get when we say, "Smile, Eggy"
Ready to eat some cake

Happy 12 Months!

Yeah yeah, we get it; you're one.  And no, I'm not a fob; I know the "s" is missing.  Eggy ripped it off and I couldn't find it.

Eggy's still not totally walking on her own yet. She still reaches for our hands when we try to make her walk. But she's getting there....
I don't know if it's because she's scared or what. I would say she's pretty cautious but sometimes, she can be a little daredevil. She likes it when I throw her in the air. And she loved the swing at the park the other day.
Maybe she's just lazy.

Since we had a big party, we kept it pretty low key for her actual birthday. Actually, we were going to have family pictures taken but it got postponed. It was supposed to rain yesterday and today so we cancelled the shoot. Wouldn't you know? It was nice and sunny the whole day. Stupid weather. I really wanted to do it on her real birthday too. Boo.

Instead, we went over to Grandma's (Eggy Appah's mom) house for dinner.  And of course, cake!
See, I told you Eggy can be cautious.  I think most babies would grab that cake with both hands and shove it in their mouth, right?  Not Eggy, she'd only poke at it.
Maybe I might have put a little frosting on her nose to help her get started
which she didn't really like.
But once she tasted that frosting, she pretty much forgot about it.

My girl likes to share.

Happy Birthday Eggy!!

I can't believe that my little baby is one.  Can I even call her a baby anymore?  Isn't she officially a toddler?
Dear Eggy,
What an amazing year.  Only a year ago, we were at the hospital ready to get you out because you were a week late.  After your crazy and dramatic entrance to the world, I remember looking at you and thinking how perfect you were.  (Well, not right away because you were kind of swollen and ugly, lol.)
And now you're this little person with your own personality.  You make us laugh every day.  You surprise us every day.  This year has been filled with ups and downs (but mostly ups!) and it's all because of you.  All the cliches are true.  You're the best part of our lives.  Thank you for being a (mostly) good baby.  You've made it pretty easy for us.  Keep up the good work!  Umma and Appah love you tons!  Even more than Umma loves cake!

Birthday Eggstravaganza

I'm still recovering from Sunday. It was soo hot!  It must have been the hottest day of the month.  But at least it didn't rain.  (It's supposed to rain tomorrow and Thursday.  This weather is crazy.)  And the exit off the freeway was closed so everyone was late.  And there was a ton of traffic.  And the aquarium was crazy crowded, or so I heard.  We never had a chance to go in.
Other than those setbacks, Eggy's party was a success.  At least, I think it was.  I loved how everything came together.
We had to get a bunch of extra umbrellas for more shade
Goody bags for the kids
Board designed by Eggy appah's friend.  I loved this.

Thanks to GooGoo (Eggy's aunt) and her BF (Uncle SunWorshipper) , we were able to get all the decorations set up in time.  I felt bad that they had to toil away in the hot hot sun.

Eggy with her GooGoo (and SokSok in the back)

Despite all the craziness of the day, Eggy was such a good sport.  She didn't cry once or complain, even when we dressed her in her hanbok.  She even kept her hat on.
Look at my face, lol.  Did I mention how hot it was?

Singing Happy Birthday

After we sang, Eggy signed for "more" so we sang a second time.

Eggy appah's family

My family

And she didn't freeze up during the doljabi.
"I don't know what to pick!"
She touched the ball first but....
she picked up the markers.

Although... Eggy wasn't always the nicest hostess.
Eggy grabbing the bag away from Baby O.
Technically, Baby O is her aunt even though Eggy is older by a few months.  Haha, O's so chubby, she's almost the same size as Eggy!  Cutie.
"Eggy, be gentle!"
But Baby O got even by falling on Eggy and pinning her to the ground.

I feel bad that I didn't get to spend as much time with our guests.  I barely got to eat (although I did manage to shove down 2 or 3 slices of cake, keke).  It was like our wedding all over again.  For some people, it was their first time meeting Eggy.  (It also gave me a chance to meet/catch up with other people's babies.  It's so weird to think that Eggy is not one of the youngest babies anymore.)
I'm so happy that Eggy got to spend her first birthday surrounded by our family and friends.  Some people wonder why Koreans make such a big deal about the first birthday, especially when the kid's not even going to remember it.  In the past, a lot of babies didn't make it to their first birthdays because of illnesses or malnutrition or whatever.  So it was a big milestone if the baby survived its first year.  Luckily, nowadays that's not so much of a concern thanks to modern medicine but we still celebrate it.  For us, it wasn't just about having a big party; we wanted to celebrate Eggy's first year of life and share it with our family and friends.  We survived the first year!  I know she won't remember this party at all but I hope that one day when she looks at the pictures, she'll see how much we all love her.  Because she ain't having another birthday party like this for a long long loooooooong time!
